CDI Solutions partnered with Pelican State Credit Union to create a dynamic, health-conscious workspace that emphasizes employee well-being, productivity, and collaboration. The comprehensive design spans multiple floors and integrates the latest WELL Building Standards to ensure a holistic environment that nurtures both physical and mental health.

The first floor of the project features key spaces such as the lobby, the credit union branch, an administrative suite, a boardroom, and The Perch—a vibrant area designed to encourage healthy lifestyles and employee interaction. Strategically placed, The Perch fosters movement throughout the building, in alignment with WELL Building Standards. With diverse seating options and healthy dining selections, The Perch serves as a central hub where employees can gather, collaborate, and recharge. This space is more than just a break area; it’s designed to cultivate a sense of community and wellness within the workplace.

The second and third floors are structured as interconnected neighborhoods—departments linked by boulevards, or corridors. This layout creates seamless transitions between workspaces and communal areas, promoting interaction among employees. Breakrooms, lounge areas, and collaborative spaces are dispersed throughout, offering multiple venues for socializing and working together. The inclusion of a fully equipped fitness center, complete with lockers and showers, encourages physical activity and integrates a health-focused culture. Employees are also motivated to take advantage of the exterior walking paths that encircle the campus.

Wayfinding is a crucial aspect of the design, with particular emphasis around The Perch. The entrance to this vibrant area is a focal point, featuring a television that displays key information about WELL standards to employees. Custom millwork and thoughtful design elements guide movement, making navigation throughout the facility intuitive and enhancing the overall user experience.

To encourage movement and collaboration, strategically placed collaboration spaces are located between departmental neighborhoods along the boulevards. Posters encouraging the use of stairs and promoting movement are placed throughout the facility, fostering a healthy, active culture. Collaboration spaces within each neighborhood offer employees the chance to step away from their desks and engage with peers, strengthening team dynamics. CDI Solutions involved Pelican State Credit Union employees in the design process by installing mock-ups of workstations, private offices, and executive offices, ensuring that the final design met their specific needs.

Workstations were designed with WELL standards in mind, featuring height-adjustable desks, ergonomic seating, and individualized task lighting. In open areas, sound masking was implemented to improve acoustics and minimize distractions, while private offices were clustered to maximize access to natural light and outdoor views. Biophilic design principles are evident throughout the project, incorporating natural elements to create a calming, welcoming atmosphere. Collaborative areas include reading nooks that feature literature on WELL-promoted topics, enhancing the educational and wellness aspects of the design. Digital wayfinding technology is integrated with room reservation software, allowing employees to reserve spaces with ease, while signage and exterior walking paths support intuitive navigation both inside and outside the building.
