Visionary Design Approach
CDI Solutions was entrusted with designing a prototype location for Brick and Spoon restaurants, tasked with creating a blueprint for potential franchise locations. The challenge was to deliver a design package that could be adapted to various space sizes and configurations while preserving the upscale, artisan appeal of Brick and Spoon’s breakfast, brunch, and lunch offerings. The goal was to balance sophistication with casual comfort, creating a welcoming environment that enhances the dining experience.
Unique and Impactful Details
Every element of the restaurant’s design was carefully considered to elevate the space while maintaining approachability. The selection of finishes, millwork design, and fixtures were all chosen with intention. One standout feature is the stunning wood back bar, installed in a chevron pattern, which introduces a dynamic visual element that is both elegant and playful. Complementing this design is the bead board on the bar front, painted white to evoke the look of a classic tablecloth, contrasted by vibrant yellow stools. This contrast creates a lively yet refined atmosphere, ensuring the space feels polished and inviting.
Optimized Space and Flow
In terms of spatial design, CDI Solutions developed custom millwork drawings for community-style dining tables that serve a dual purpose. These tables act as natural dividers between the bar area and the main dining space while maximizing seating capacity. Pendant lighting above these tables adds visual interest, enhancing the open and airy ambiance of the restaurant. The open pendant design, paired with large front windows, allows natural light to flood the space, making it bright and welcoming throughout the day.
Lasting Quality and Comfort
The design also considers practical elements to ensure the restaurant remains functional and comfortable. Luxury vinyl flooring was selected for its durability and slip resistance, meeting code requirements while adding warmth to the space. The wood plank appearance of the flooring complements the restaurant’s overall aesthetic, balancing the industrial feel of exposed ceiling elements with the warmth of natural materials.
Tailored Brand Experiences
CDI Solutions also integrated elements from existing Brick and Spoon locations to maintain brand consistency while evolving the concept for this prototype. The use of striped vinyl wall coverings, a more durable evolution of the painted black and white stripes seen in other locations, provides visual interest and higher wall protection. Other focal points, such as the Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar, were incorporated with chalkboard wall paint to allow staff to creatively display featured ingredients. This interactive feature engages patrons and contributes to the restaurant’s lively atmosphere, while division screen shutters offer flexibility by creating a non-intrusive partition for larger parties. Ultimately, this sophisticated yet approachable design creates an environment that exceeds expectations and sets the stage for future franchise success.
